The Office of General Counsel is excited to announce a current job opportunity for those interested in public service, dispute resolution, and community engagement.
The U.S. Department of Justice, Community Relations Service (CRS), is currently hiring Conciliation Specialists in 28 cities.
The Community Relations Service (CRS) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Justice that serves as a bridge of hope and peace amidst disunity. CRS is dedicated to mending communities that have been impacted by matters of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, and gender/sexual identity. Referred to as “America’s Peacemaker” from its founding in 1964, CRS operates as an impartial mediator in communities that receive their services.
Conciliators (or conciliation specialists) work with the community, civil rights leaders, religious leaders, law enforcement, schools, and parents to facilitate dialogues, offer education and training, and engage in consultations with communities in conflict.
CRS does not prosecute, litigate, or investigate. CRS’s services and engagements with communities are confidential, and CRS and the rest of the DOJ do not exchange confidential information with each other. CRS exists solely to resolve conflicts and promote peace.
